Four easy steps in making layers
             In Photoshop
Open 2 photos on your stage
You may need to hit ctrl A to hold your
first photo in place
The pyramid photo is
showing in the layers pallet
because it is the last photo
I "clicked on
.
It would help the effect if the two
photos were about the same size. But
not necessary.
Hold down your left mouse key and
drag the ocean photo over and on top
of the pyramid photo and release.
Select the
move tool
Here
See how the layers pallet
changes when you select
another photo.
Look familiar? This is where a lot of "newbies" get stuck. It
appears that all we really did is make another copy of the ocean.
But look at the layers pallet.
We now have the ocean on top of
our pyramid background layer.
One more step to see your layered image
Yes, we now have layers
Click on the "Opacity" slider
and bring it down.
We now have two images
blended together.
Note: always, as a rule make a duplicate copy of your
image. Once you Flatten the layers (merge) you are stuck
with that image and you may want to use that photo again.

You can also click on
the eye to toggle off
viewing of  that
particular layer
Remember: Whatever layer
you want to work on must be
selected. Click on that layer so
it is highlighted
.(here, shown in
grey )

Now you can bring in a third or
forth photo and text as a layer.
Now lets move on to part 2. Blending images with Layer Mask and Extracting
