My focusing procedure
After locating and centering my target in the eyepiece using the
Autostar hand controller, I put my scope in high precision mode
and hit enter. The scope now goes to a nearby, bright star. I
now replace the eyepiece with the stiletto device that has the
same weight and focal plane distance as my OM-1 camera. I
adjust the focus until I no longer see any bars in the stiletto
device. I now lock the focus tube on the telescope and replace
the stiletto with my camera. Now I hit enter, and the scope goes
back to my original target. I only use the camera view finder to
frame my shots.

The most challenging aspect of astro-photography, and the most
critical, is focusing. The focus screen in my camera displays an image
that is dim and fuzzy. This is fine for daytime use; however, through
my telescope nearly everything I want to photograph is dim and fuzzy.
I tried masks and magnifiers and various types of focus screens; all to
no avail. I finally broke down and bought a Stiletto focusing device
from Stellar Technologies. Stellar technologies
